Epidemics and Pandemics

Over the last few years there have been some serious pandemics affecting travelers. These include Bird Flu, SARS, Ebola and COVID-19.

Boomers Travel Insurance provides Unlimited Overseas Medical Expenses resulting from an epidemic or pandemic. This extends to include emergency medical, surgical and hospital treatment, transportation and the cost of repatriation. It is important to note the disease must be contracted whilst on your journey and cover does not extend to your normal country of residence or where reciprocal health agreements are accessible. Please refer to the Product Disclosure Statement for full terms and conditions.

Multi-factor Authentication

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) adds an extra layer of security when accessing your accounts. Instead of only entering a password, MFA requires a second method of verification, such as a code from an app, a text or email message, or a biometric method like a fingerprint.

Cruises

All Boomers Travel Insurance policies automatically include cover for Cruises. Travellers on domestic cruises within Australian waters, should select their area of travel as ‘Australia – Cruise’ to ensure that cover is available for emergency medical assistance and expenses.

Annual Multi-trip Travel Insurance

If you are a frequent traveller, Annual Multi-Trip travel insurance can be cheaper than purchasing lots of individual policies over a 12-month period. Boomers Travel Insurance annual multi-trip insurance covers trips within Australia if they include at least one overnight stay and a minimum distance of 250 kms from your place of residence.

Annual travel insurance policies limit the number of days you can spend abroad on any one trip. Our maximum single trip duration is 93 days.

Cover for Australians Already Overseas

If you are an Australian resident and returning to Australia (i.e. the end date of the policy must be the date you arrive back in Australia), you are eligible to purchase a policy. Our policies are appropriate if:

• you’re already overseas and simply forgot to take out travel insurance, or;
• you’re overseas and your existing travel insurance policy has expired or;
• you’re based overseas and returning home to Australia

There is no cover in place for the first 48 hours from the policy start date and you must be returning to Australia.

Snow Sports and Off Piste

For an incremental premium, Boomers Travel Insurance has an option to cover snow sports – this can be extended to include off-piste in countries other than the USA and Canada.

Schengen Visa Requirements

All our policies exceed the Schengen requirement as the amount of cover under the medical expenses section is unlimited. Medical repatriation back to Australia (if deemed medically necessary) and returning your remains to your home or a funeral in the country where you died is also included.

For full details, please refer to section 2 ‘Medical Expenses’ on page 11 of the Product Disclosure Statement.

Travelling One Way or No Return Ticket

It’s hard to find travel insurers who are prepared to cover you if you don’t have a return ticket back into Australia. We do! This is great if you are leaving Australia permanently and taking time travelling before settling into your new home or if you simply don’t know when you’ll be back.
